My Blogging Life May 21, 2016

Hi, all…

I took the morning off so I am getting a late start on my blogging day.

I didn’t take the morning off for any particular reason but that I wanted to.

Being able to do that is one of the reasons that I desire a full-time passive blogging income from home.

I was going to say a self-employed income but some self-employed people don’t have that flexibility.

And I went back and added in the words passive blogging income because some people that work from home don’t have a flexible schedule and that includes many bloggers.

Yet, if I get this lifestyle set up the way that I want it to be, I will be able to almost always do what I want, when I want.

Yep, that’s the dream, y’all.

That’s the dream….

12:45 p.m.

After checking my Adsense stats ($2.18 yesterday. Woo Hoo!), my Google Analytics, and statcounter, I went on over a filled up my Buffer. I played a bit more with Pablo and I really think I like it. It is giving Canva some real competition.

After I finished that, I decided that I really need to close some of these tabs (at least 35 are open), so I listened to the podcasts and Facebook Live videos and closed them out. I finished off by reading the posts that I have open “to read later”.  Later is now, so I cracked the whip on my own behind.

I also went back to the tried and true method of leaving relevant comments on blogs to help with traffic. It has never been a great factor in my traffic but it does bring in some. Plus, I just like reading and leaving comments (ie, engagement) on blogs. It makes me feel good and it makes the blogger feel as if they are not writing in a vacuum. Other benefits of comments is that a few comments can get the ball rolling to a few more comments. And advertisers are looking for engagement on blogs as much as, if not more than, traffic these days.

6:35 p.m.

I went on my personal Facebook page and updated my profile to read that I am the Business Owner of my blogs rather than that I just work there. It is the little things that give me a boost.

8:00 p.m.

Just finished updating the Facebook Page header of MsCrookedHalo. It is looking rather nice, if I do say so myself. Click here to take a peek and/or like the page: MsCrooked Halo Facebook Page.

I have decided that the purpose of my Facebook actions, actually all of my social media, is to draw people to my blog and capture their email address.

The reason for this is that Facebook, Google, Pinterest, and Twitter can change all the algorithms that they want but my list belongs to me.

My next step is to make a capture page and link it to the Sign-up button rather than the homepage of the blog itself.

One step at a time….

I will admit that it took me 3 tries to get the arrow just where I wanted it. One thing that I learned is to refresh after each header upload or you won’t see the change. I may have hit it correctly on the first try but I’ll never know because I didn’t refresh until after the 3rd image upload.

I made the banner header for free using Canva for anyone who is interested.

I plan to do a new header for each Facebook page but it should be a snap now that I have the basic image down.

9:01 p.m.

Spent a few minutes on each social media.

Now I am back to closing tabs which, oddly enough, seem to have increased rather than decrease due to said social media and opening emails.  Go figure.

Well, I got those ol’ pesky tabs down to 23, all of which are things that I want to do.

I finished reading all the posts and watching all the videos!

Now, it is time for bed.

Did you get anything accomplished today that has been on your to-do list for while? How many tabs do you have open on your browser right now? Leave a comment below and let me know.
