My Blogging Day 5.19.16

Now that I’ve started writing these blogging life posts, I actually feel guilty when I skip a day…or two…or three.

Some days I skip because I didn’t do much on the blogging front.

Others, I skip because I was just too lazy to write ’em.

Yesterday was a semi-combination of both.

I didn’t really do to much on the blogging front and I really didn’t feel like writing about what I was not really doing.

Make sense?

That’s ok.

I am going to tell you what I did yesterday here and you can be the judge.

Besides the general things like Facebook groups, etc., one thing that I did was read a super long but interesting and informative 2015 Blog Income Report on What Mommy Does.

Since I was reading in between doing other things, it took me an extremely long time to get through it.

As a matter of fact, I still haven’t finished it and I am going back and forth reading it as I type this and do other things.

Another way that I justified to myself the process of doing “less is more” yesterday was listening to Profitable Bloggings Summit podcasts.

Since they are suppose to expire 48 hours after being posted, they were time sensitive viewing materials.

See?? I haz reasons….

They are choked full of good information, some that I heard before, some that I had not. Some that contradicts what the other blogger just said. Lol.

Yesterday, I finished Day 1 and I should be on track to complete Day 2 today.

Last night, I started sending affiliate links on socialoomph out via 2 of my Twitter accounts, 1 of which shares directly to my Facebook.

We’ll see if that yields me any moola.

Funny thing is that I find myself saying a small prayer that the deal gets to the person who needs it.

Which brings us to today (yes, I know, I skipped a couple of days. I did nothing…NOTHING! Well, I missed out on some money….).

7:00 a.m.

I am actually getting an early start on the day. Not by design. I just feel so energized today. I have already checked my Adsense ($0.29 yesterday), my Google Analytics, and my Statcounter. Yes, I check both. Sometimes, Analytics sends me on information overload and I prefer the simplicity of Statcounter.

I am also finishing up reading the income post that I mentioned above. Funnily enough, she just mentioned how tired that she is from writing it as the count is now 6000 words and I was just thinking how exhausting that post most have been to write. Probably something only another blogger/writer would understand…

8:24 a.m.

Time to check my buffer. I am actually proud of myself for remembering to re-up it last night. I am seriously considering upgrading so that I can have 100s of posts pending rather than the 10 Free that we get at one time. Either way, I loves me some Buffer. SocialOomph is OK but you have to upgrade to do images or anything other than Twitter while Buffer lets me do Twitter, Google Plus, my personal Facebook, and Facebook pages. And there are even offering Pinterest for 1 week Free. I already use Tailwind and I am considering Boardbooster, so that is not a real consideration for me. If I upgrade, bye-bye SocialOoomph. I am giving Hootsuite a try. mostly because they offer Instagram, but I haven’t quite gotten my learning curve straight yet.

And then, just because I wanted to grab my affiliate links, I got all caught up in reading my Tailwind stats. You’ve been there, right? Right???

9:14 a.m.

Time to do linkups. According to Analytics, linkups accounted for 56 visits in the past 30 days. That is not a heck of a lot but what keeps me doing them is that they spend an average of 4:32 on my website. That is the highest amount by far. I need to drill down and figure out what they are doing while they are on here.

Not right now though. Right now, I have to figure out why my laptop has disconnected from the internet. Sigh. If it is not one thing, it is another…

9:35 a.m.

A restart of the computer seems to have fixed the problem. Started my linkups. Which reminds me that I really need to finish my linkup page. Maybe tomorrow.

11:11 a.m.

Got caught up in reading some of the excellent posts on the linkup. Yes, I do click, visit, and read the ones that interest me. If they are especially good, I share them on my social networks. That is how the linkups are suppose to work. And that is the only way that the will really work and add value as a blogger.

9:31 p.m.

A good chunk of this post just got lost in the bloggerverse. Just poof and it disappeared. Like a dummy, I hadn’t saved it in draft mood. Stupid, I know. Ah, well…

For the life of me, I cannot remember what it was that I typed.

But, some interesting things have happened that I can tell you about in the past 10 minutes.

First, you know how I’ve been searching for a plugin that will automatically put the related by category posts in the certain of my posts? You don’t? Well, I have.

A lovely blogger gave me the link to Inline Related Posts. Now, my problem is deciding if I want it to stand out slightly or stand out dramatically. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

Since I was having the related posts in the middle of the posts, I ditched the center Adsense ad for now.

I also attempted to tweak my fixed widget so that it wouldn’t cover up the other boxes but I just ended up making it worse so I am I going to walk away before cursing ensues.

If you are wondering what I am talking about, if you scroll down to the bottom of mscrookedhalo, you will see that my subscribe box moves with you.

Pretty nifty right. It makes portion of the sidebar static.

I don’t think that you can see it in action on your mobile device so you will need to visit that blog from a laptop or desktop computer.

I am thinking that I may want to make the ad box and the subscribe box both static but let’s try to solve one problem at a time first, shall we.

So, I swapped ad boxes around so that the ad network ads were the ones being covered up instead.

I’ll do some more research on how to fix that fixed widget app some other day because I am yawning as I type this.

It is pass this lil’ bloggers bed time.

Nighty night, all….
