How to remove a website from google analytics

For this tutorial, I already had google analytics traffic report set up on websites that on which I was no longer the webmaster because I had either let the site go or I had changed the domain name.

There are many tutorials on how to install google analytics on a website but I was looking for instructions on how to remove a website from my google analytics from my profile.

Turned out to be rather simple once I knew how.

Goes without sayimg but log in to your google analytic account.

Select the website that you want to delete.

Click Admin located at the top of the screen.

Click Account Settings.

On the right hand side of the screen, click Move to trash can.

Read the instructions before proceeding.

Move Account to Trash Can

Before moving your Analytics account My Spoiled Self to the Trash Can, please review the checklist below. Once an account expires from the Trash Can, it cannot be restored. Learn more about the Trash Can.

  • Did you mean to move individual properties or views to the Trash Can instead of the entire account?
  • Users with edit access to this account will be notified. We recommend confirming with all other users before moving this account to the Trash Can.
  • Don’t forget to remove the Analytics tracking code from your web pages or app.

Are you sure you want to proceed?

If you are sure, click Trash Account.

All users of the account will receive a message letting them know that they have 35 days to restore the account from being permanently deleted.

To do so, you must access the account from your google analytics trash can.

The email will contain a link but if you delete the message but decide to revive the website, simply visit your Admin page again and select the website (it will have a strikeout through the name).

Scroll down to Trash Can.

Select the website and click Restore.
