How to make a multiple link open tool in wordpress

On Saturday, I threw up a quick post on my new drop tool following the instructions of MyBloggerTricks.

I awoke this morning to confusions and questions on how I got the tool to work.

Again, I use wordpress, so I ignored all of the blogger instructions and, really, I can’t help you there.

I highly recommend that you direct those questions to MyBloggerTricks.

However, I found it really simple to add the code a WordPress Page.

I grabbed the code:

<!– MBT MULTIPLE LINKS CODE –>

and pasted it into a new Page which I named Drop Here.

See where the bold words: LinkName and Link1, Link2, Link3, and Link4?

Those are the only areas that you need to monkey around with to allow the tool to open your multiple links.

Actully, you could leave the word LinkName like I did (lame, I know) or you could change it to read whatever you want.

The Link1, Link2, Link3, and Link4 are really your money makers.

That’s where you add the links that you want to pop open.

<!– MBT MULTIPLE LINKS CODE –>

Don’t be an idiot like me and neglect to add the http:// to each of your domains and then threaten the computer with bodily harm if the ^(&(& thing doesn’t “act right”.

Also, don’t freak out when wordpress totally mangles the code into one big, completely unreadable by a novice blob.

It did mine too and I had to go back and fix the code just so I could right this post. ~sigh~

Oh, and to add more blogs to your list, simply add another copy of the code.

var http = “LINK5“;
var win1 = window.open(http);

Now, the interesting part is how to get the tool to show up on your blog.

Yep, just another piece of code.

link text

Change the bold link text to read however you want.

If you are creative, you could add an image link, if you prefer with the following code.

<img src=”Image Link” />

Change the Image Link bold word to an uploaded photo of your choice.

Publish your page and click your tool.

If all goes well, you should open up all of the links that you inserted at once.

Hope That Helps!
